I shuddered. There WAS a ghost! “MOM! DAD! A GHOST!” I screamed. Mom and Dad came running downstairs. “What NOW?” Dad asked. “A-a g-g-host is in this h-h-house!” I stuttered. “I have proof!” “Then show us,” Mom replied.
I gave her the camera. Her eyes widened when she saw the picture. “Look,” she said to Dad. “Well, you weren’t imagining,” Dad said. “But there isn’t anything we can do about it.” "C-c-can I move my room up-up-upstairs?” I asked. “You have to be mature about this, the ghost is harmless,” Dad said. “But it knocked my stuff over!” I cried. “Hmmm…maybe it is trying to send a message,” Mom said. She started walking upstairs, and Dad followed. I quickly hid myself under my covers, and eventually fell asleep. When I woke up, I looked around my room. Everything was in its place. But there was a open journal on my bed, and it had writing in it! I picked it up, and read it. It said: “Help me. At eleven o’clock tonight, go into the kitchen, and open the cupboard over the stove. There, I will have something that WILL help. At two a.m., walk to the cemetery a quarter of a mile away from this house, and lay the object I have given you in front of a gravestone that says, Grace James. 1891-1900.” I gasped. I closed the journal, hoping that Mom and Dad wouldn’t see it. A ghost who was following me was nine years old! I hoped she wasn’t dangerous. That night, at 11:00 p.m., I walked over to the dark kitchen. A little patch of the floor was illuminated by the moonlight shining through the window, but that was the only light. I slowly opened the cupboard. It was a locket! I opened it, and there was a picture a girl, frowning as if she wasn’t delighted by having her picture taken. There was a little note next to the locket. I picked it up and read: “You have found my locket. Later tonight, when you take it to my gravestone, I will be there with a message for you. You must keep it a secret, because the fate of your ancestors rests in your hands.” My ancestors? Was this girl part of my family tree? To Be Continued.
