There are a lot of Hampton holiday parade traditions – we have the Coliseum Central Parade, the Hampton Lighted Boat Parade and the Hampton Holly Days Parade – each really wonderful and all relatively close together.

The Coliseum Central Parade was Saturday, November 19 and the participants and those along the route enjoyed a great show and beautiful weather.

There is still time to enjoy our two evening parades: the Lighted Boat Parade is on Saturday, December 3 and begins with the tree lighting downtown at 6:45 p.m. and the parade at 7:15 p.m. The Holly Days Parade is on Saturday, December 10 and begins at 7 p.m. We hope you and your family will join us.

Filming for Holly Days Parade

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we filmed the opening and closing for the Hampton Holly Days Parade in the lobby of City Hall. Tod Smith, President and General Manager of WVEC television; Wesley Jones, CFO of Crewestone Technology; and I met up to spend about 30 minutes taping segments that will play for 20 seconds. It makes you realize why it can take 3 months to film a movie. We also learned a little about the magic of Hollywood – I had to stand on a box so as not to be dwarfed by Mr. Smith and Mr. Jones.

For details on the Holly Days Parade, visit www.hampton.gov/parks.  Information on the Lighted Boat Parade can be found at www.downtownhampton.com.

Don't you think it's time to pull this article and out some real news in it's place. A good item from the Mayor would be why were you in such a hurry to close on Harbor Square? The citizens hardly got a chance to speak on it.
